GAI grading

I have an opportunity to purchase a vintage pack graded by GAI. The pack looks good from what I can tell from the photos. Does anyone have an opinion on how credible they were on packs? I heard you should stay away from certain serial numbers. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

The most reliable era for GAI pack grading is the one spanning the silver flips (certs 100XXX through 103XXX). There are a couple of notable exceptions such as the grocery cello fiasco under Ryan Rutter (all of those bear cert #s beginning with 102XXX) but the packs in holders with the silver flips are generally very reliable. That said, any pack, in any holder, should be evaluated based on its own merits and attributes.
