Across all gold production at the St. Petersburg Mint in Russia in 1906, just 10 examples of the 5 Roubles and 10 examples of the 10 Roubles were struck. One example of the 5 Roubles was recently submitted to PCGS for grading and became the first specimen of the 10 pieces struck to be certified as authentic.

The linked article talks more about the "1931 Russian Museum" pedigree in the article. Fascinating history to this piece. Thanks for posting.
Having studied socialism/communism they both were supposed to evolve into societies without a need for money. Which makes the sales of artworks and numismatic treasures interesting, because wasn't communism supposed to eliminate money - yet the USSR government had no excess production of goods that they could trade ie oil, wheat etc. So they ended up selling national treasures.
Marjorie Merriweather Post was the heiress of the Post Cereal fortune in the 1930's.
She became friends with Joseph Stalin and he sold her several pieces of artwork and jewelry confiscated from the Russian Czars, including some of the famous Faberge Eggs.
The items and some others are on display at her house in Washington DC.
I visited the place several years ago but I do not remember any Russian coins on display.
I do remember a full length painting of her daughter, film star Dina Merrill.
