Unopened Pack Help - Please & Thank You

I've been considering jumping on the bandwagon of unopened hockey packs. I just get nervous about buying altered packs. These aren't very expensive at all, but would like a little guidance and see what people think. I have a couple thoughts, but really have no clue.

I wouldn’t buy the broken gum pack as it can’t get it graded which will limit your upside in the future, the other box looks good. If I were in your shoes though I would save up my money and wait for the baseball card exchange to have a box for sale and buy that.

What are you wanting to do with them, open them or keep them? If you're buying to keep then you may as well as buy them graded. That way they'll be authentic and preserved. Buying to open is a crapshoot if they're ungraded/authenticated. 1978 Topps has the Bossy rookie and 1988 Topps has the Hull rookie so it wouldn't be a surprise if those packs were searched.

PSA does grade packs with broken gum as long as its not in a million pieces.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

I planned on keeping them. I was thinking of just putting together a run of 1980's Topps and OPC packs. I suppose it will be better to buy some graded so I know they're not searched.
