eBay recognizes Tax-Free weekends

FYI -- I'm in Massachusetts, and this weekend is Tax-Free (States sales tax). I went to purchase some items on eBay and they did not charge me sales tax today. It is limited to transaction under $2,500 and some items do not count such as automobiles. But if you are in Massachusetts (or another state that offers a "Tax-free weekend"), perhaps you can save yourself some bucks on items you were going to purchase anyway...

Ebay is also running this savings promotion but from what I've read over on BO its not working for everyone. I haven't tried it yet though.

Why wouldn't it? EBay is required to collect all sales tax that is due. If, in Massachusetts, sales tax isn't due today, eBay can't collect it. When I lived in Oklahoma, many stores had sales of "at least the sales tax" the weekend Texas went tax free. I'm sure eBay collected the Oklahoma sales tax that it was compelled to.
