Sharing your Fractional collection

Fractionals are a great piece of history. I didn’t start collecting them until a couple of years ago. I bought the Collector’s Guide to Postage and Fractional Currency by Robert J. Kraits and the addiction started. I figured I would share some of mine starting with the 1st issue 5cent and post the rest over time. Feel free to share yours as others would probably love to see them.

I'll have to go over there and post them too. Thanks
Great notes! 👍

A week ago today I got my first ever examples of the first series:
and the ten cent:
I’m looking forward to, in due time getting these with perforated edges, too.

Nice Notes guys Thanks for Sharing, keep it up 👍
1st issue 10cent
nice notes
I agree; very nice. But I have to ask. Being paper how well did these little notes hold up?
Its tough to find them in Gem condition. But there are a lot of XF to AU+ to be found at reasonable prices.
Very nice notes!
Paper doesn't hold up particularly well under heavy circulation which these were subject to. Fractional and obsolete currency was often circulated way beyond the point where they should have been replaced. Maybe we need to start a thread of lowest grade notes. It's amusing to see how bad they can get and still be used as currency.
With that said, plenty were saved as souvenirs and there are good supplies of most designs in all of the various grades.
The earliest issues (postage currency) circulated side by side with private merchant scrip, so if you collect these, you might want to include some local private scrip, too.
I particularly like your focus on variety and multiples in your collection. The perforated first issue notes are very hard to find well centered and free of problems and command sizable premiums when located.
@sellitstore have you come across any IOWA private merchant notes?
Amazing assortment. Thanks for posting them.
Thanks. I figured I work my way through by series and denomination.
_Good Stuff… Nice Notes guys 👍… Thanks for Sharing _
Remember that the Heritage auction is coming this month. There is an outstanding collection being offered for bids...171 notes...many of the notes are top pops and super rare!

Added this to my 25 cent 1st issue the other day

This completes my 1st issue
Nicely Done Congrats 👍
I agree with Scooter007. Nice job, very nice job.
Thanks, now I need to complete my 2nd issue
Forgot I had this one too
The second issue is harder than the first and the 3rd is close to impossible ...unless you have six figures to spend in your pocket
Maybe I should start a GOFUNDME page.
Now for the 3rd issue. Missing a bunch but want decent examples.
4th issue near complete
5th issue complete
That's quite a collection! Nice job!
Nice!!
Excellent! I have some catching up to do!

Nice notes, keep sharing.
I've had this one for a while. Not sure if it's anything special.
Book says it is worth between $250 and $350. Not sure what the going rate is though. I think the Specimens are interesting but haven't started collecting them. VERY NICE EXAMPLE
Thanks so much for the info!
Here are some of my 50¢ fractionals, all common but I do love the type:
Nice group, only missing a few to have all the 50cents.
Here is how crazy one can get...just first issue 5c notes from my collection
Oh...forgot a few...fractionals used as postage (since they looked like 5c stamps)
larger envelope used as airmail and collected by President Roosevelt and ultimately in mine
second one addressed to a residence that is now a car repair shop
last 2 with postage cancellations
Those are really nice Tom. I usually don’t upgrade unless it is a great deal on the note. I try to be patient and buy nice looking notes. But I really love the different and odd things like those envelopes
You have some nice notes.
A lot of good fractional notes will be available in tomorrow's Heritage auction. Here is a list of my notes for sale

Very nice notes @dtreter . Love your 2nd issues. I used to not care for the 2nd issue series but reverses grew on me
Very Cool notes, really enjoy seeing them all 👍
