What are your thoughts on auction houses?

I leaning towards an auction house to sell a couple cards this fall. Does anyone have any experience working with any?

I've never sold a card in my life so I have no idea how the process works or how the houses get buyers. Any advise or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

What are the type of items and value? Are the individual PSA graded cards, vintage or modern, sets, boxes, cases, memorabilia?

Agreed, it depends a lot on what you have. A card will be a standout in one auction and lost in another, and in another they might have 3 of the same card in the same grade, and you'll be the worse for it.
Depending on the card, some auction houses will charge you a sellers premium, most won't, and some will give you part of the buyers premium.
