U. S. Mail

I have always been a proponent of the U.S. postal service and have always thought they do an outstanding job. The price you pay vs. their overall performance has always been for the most part an excellent value. However the last couple of weeks there has been a drastic and noticeable drop off. A couple of examples: a package arrived at my regional distributon center early AM. Normally I would get it the same day or at least the next day. It took 2 days. I live 5 miles from the distribution center and 1 mike from my local PO. A package sent to me last week was supposed to be delivered Tuesday. I just checked and it was just updated and it is still in the same state and has travelled a total of 100 driving miles in 6 days. I am afraid this is an example of what’s to come with the current USPS problems. Anyone else?

Yes, cards I've bought off ebay have been arriving consistently late, but so far everything
    has eventually gotten here.
What I was most worried about was my monthly consignment I send to PWCC. I usually just
send it priority mail and it gets there in two days. I decided to send it registered and it took forever.
Forget about the USPS expected delivery date because it means nothing currently.

Registered is supposed to take a lot longer than priority as it requires a sign off every step of the way. It's far more secure, but has never been fast.

There are a couple areas of the country that seem to be horrible right now in terms of normal processing speed, NJ and Chicago are the one's I've noticed. There are probably others, but I haven't noticed any drop in service in my area.

Agree but the registered package I sent still arrived a week after the expected delivery date.

Yep, I'm getting a lot of "in transit arriving late" tracking messages, which I used to never get.

It's been horrible here in Louisville. I have a PO Box at the main post office, I've had a dozen packages in the last few weeks that get to the back and sit there for 2-5 days before being delivered. I've started filing a "Where's my package" complaint every time it sit for 2 days or more. I'm sure they love me by now, but I don't want a package potentially worth thousands just sitting around their facility. It's crazy!

These kind of threads have been popping up from time to time, and I just shake my head. You all are being played, and you don't even realize it. There is intent to make you angry towards the USPS. I've commented on it in depth before in other threads, so will not rehash it here. There will be a Senate hearing this Friday regarding the USPS, and a House of Representative hearing on Monday, also regarding the USPS. You should try to find some coverage of that. Perhaps you will find it informative. Perhaps it will just make you angrier. There are those that stand to benefit from the demise of the USPS, and there is 3 dimensional chess being played. Your packages, sadly, are just collateral damage in their games.

Stopping sending things to PWCC might alleviate concerns on various fronts ;)

  • If you want to guarantee it gets delivery correctly and not in an emergency hurry, send it registered. Never ever had a problem.

I've had many 3 day never arriving even with a return address. Oh, by the way I'm still here.

Making this statement reminds me of a cartoon showing a X-ray of a company
suggestion box. The x-ray shows the memo going through the box right into a shredder.

New PMG... re-organizing Area/Districts, transportation, logistics, mail processing and implementing cost cutting strategies across the board plus Covid-19. Way too political for a collectors forum discussion.
