A PSA 10 Tiffany Clemens rookie sold on ebay last night for $7200. As far as I know that is a record price for a Clemens card. 85 Tiffany Mcgwires are going crazy right now too. amazing prices. It's like we are living in 1998 again.

The market definitely seems to be affected by a growing sense among collectors that the players who excelled in the late 90s/early 00s but then became tarnished by the steroid scandal are soon going to get into the HOF.

$8,700 for the PSA 10 Griffey 89 Bowman Tiffany yesterday. PWCC had some strong cards (aside from them being from PWCC) end yesterday. That Clemens being one of the others.

I'd argue that neither Clemens or Bonds makes it into the Hall short of a Veteran's vote many years from now, but their collectability is strong regardless, as people enjoyed watching them and collected them heavily when they were kids. McGwire is already out from the sportswriters ballot at least. See Pete Rose, Joe Jackson, Bo Jackson, Will Clark, Don Mattingly, etc. Heck, even Sosa is up big in this market with zero shot of sniffing the Hall.

ETA: I'd much rather collect any of the players listed above than Harold Baines or Lee Smith.

HOF has nothing (almost nothing) to do with it. People buy what they like.
