1972 Eisenhower Dollar - Cheek Anomaly - Any Ideas?

I'm currently working on a new Eisenhower Dollar set (Intercept Shield Album), and I recently purchased this 1972 for it. Once I got it under the lens I noticed this rather interesting anomaly on Ike's upper cheek. It looks like an embedded shard of metal, as there is a clear delineated border surrounding it. There is another smaller "shard" underneath it. I have indicated these with red squares. Any ideas of what this is or what could have caused it?
