Asleep for 25 years - now I’m back with questions.
Thanks to all on this board for you insightful posts. They have helped me to get caught up a little with what is new. I was a big collector with my Dad from the mid 80s until the mid 90s. I’ve been away from the hobby for 25 years checking in only occasionally. Wow, things have really changed. I guess I’m one of the many that is getting back into it now after a long absence. I’m sending in my first PSA sub today so wish me luck.
My interest now is collecting high grade former Tar Heel basketball players. I know what I’m looking for with the vintage stuff but anything after 95 is hard for me to make sense of. There are just so many different card issues, some seem to be NBA licenses and some college licensed. I’m looking to figure out the most desirable rookies for several players and wanted some opinions. I know the Vince cards will be pricey so need several options on those.
98-99: Vince and Twan
04-05: Felton, Marvin Williams, Sean May
09-10: Lawson, Ellington, hansbrough, green
12-13: Barnes, Marshall, zeller, Henson.

I'm a North Carolina guy, I'm in Greensboro! I love "Psycho T". He was intense on the court. I like his 2009 Topps chrome refractor and his 2009 Bowman Black border. The Bowman has different print runs, the black border is obviously the more desired because it is limited to 48 copies. The 2009 Bowman is cool because they made them to resemble the 1948 Bowman set and that's why the black border is limited to "48" copies. There is also a Red bordered Bowman rookie of him but it is a 1/1 card, which means only 1 copy exists, so it will be almost impossible to find. You can also go to Ebay and type 2009 Tyler Hansbough into the search box and see what else is available, he has a wide selection, but I like the 2009 Topps chrome refractor and his 2009 Bowman Black Border.

Welcome back to the modern day nightmare! ;-)
Thanks so much! That is just the kind of info I’m looking for. Trust me, I’ve tried searching eBay but there are just so many results that come back I have a hard time determining which cards are the ones that are really desirable. Those psycho T’s look awesome! Still holding out hope that maybe he returns from China and gets a last run with someone.
The only modern card I’ve picked up in the last 8 months is a Ray Felton 05 Chrome auto.
Do you ever post on Inside Carolina?
@uncbuddha, You're welcome. I've never posted on Inside Carolina but I've heard about it. Yeah, I hope Tyler gets another go at the NBA, he was awesome to watch at Carolina, he's one of the all time great college players. He was tough as nails, I still remember that broken nose incident! I have great memories of watching him with the Tarheels.
For the 98-99 Carter & Jamison I'd recommend Topps Chrome,Topps Finest & Sp Authentic. If you want to even go a step further then there are all of their Refractors/ #'d Parallel rookies as well.
