An under rated coin, I think anyway...

The Washington 1932p Quarter doesn't get it's worth. No reason for the Philadelphia to be so low in value compared to it's next of kin, the Denver and the San Francisco. I know the mintage aspect but when you consider, it's in the first year of the Washington series? Maybe in time it might catch up? That's why I picked this one up. :)

It certainly has a "cool factor" being intended as a one-year circulating commemorative, only to turn into one of the longest running US coin designs. Value-wise it does suffer from the trend of first-year-of-issue coins being saved in larger than normal numbers, so its survival rate may be even higher than even its higher mintage would suggest. On the other hand, its lower price makes it accessible to a wider range of collectors than true key date coins.

I'll echo the sentiment that as a first year of type it was likely saved in higher numbers than later years and many of those coins that were put away were rather high grade (AU through low MS). In my experience, the issue starts to gain traction and respect when gems enter the equation.

The hoarding factor definitely plays a significant factor with the pricing of that issue. I think. The Phillies are a bargain. I agree underrated. Nice score Joe Boy!

But....like TomB says......the gems are a whole different ballgame!

    Nice coin.
There was a lot of hoarding of that coin.
I'd say that coin starts to come into it own at 66.

How many quarters are in a roll in your neck of the woods? Around here there are 40. ;)
