What's the best and safest way to ship hundreds of ounces of silver.

I'm about to sell quite a bit of silver and will need to ship it. How's the best way to do it?

    What do you mean by "best"? The flat rate priority boxes are great for silver, but I typically don't do more than $100 face and use the small flat rate box. I have received $500 quarter boxes in the long and flat medium rate boxes before. Registered mail is your best bet for safe delivery and their insurance costs are cheap.

    One or even two large flat rate priority boxes sent registered mail with lots of reinforcement tape. Medium boxes might even work. I like the mediums because i can insert and perfectly fill the box with small flat rate boxes to hold the items. Helps eliminate item movement during shipment.

    Registered is the only method that will reimburse a usps claim for loss of bullion.

    Once you pass about $750 in insurance, registered becomes cheaper than priority. Opt for the verbal "Electronic Return Receipt" at the counter. Eliminates filling out a tracking form, is a wee bit cheaper yet offers all of the tracking features.
