Christian Marquand perhaps? Image bears a strong resemblance. Doesn't match his later autos, but there are enough similarities I see possibilities.

Yes, I am pretty sure it is Christian Marquand.

Yours is a better sig than others I saw for the first name and the main format of the last name is a good match (first letter, the q, etc,).

If you can find him in a pirate movie then that seals it.

Try looking up the cast members from 1930's movies about pirates. The drawing has a 1930's look to it.
