Prince Edward Island 1871-1871 commemorative proof

coinkatcoinkat Posts: 23,483 ✭✭✭✭✭

This commemorates the 1871 PEI cent struck in 1971. It has this small logo beneath the - between 1871-1971 and nicely incorporates the original design. It is a proof... Does anyone know the maker? I tend to doubt it was issued by the Canadian Mint given this logo that is hard to describe... Sort of looks like a hand screw press for making coins within a circle. I was initially thinking FranklinMint, but I doubt that is right.

Do any of our Canadian experts know anything about this? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

If it's what I think it is, since there is no image in your post, it is a privately minted token. There are multiple examples of it available on ebay right now anywhere from $10-$30 or thereabouts. I'm not saying that range is a fair indicator of value, but simply that they are available.
