Betty Grable auto help

jay0791jay0791 Posts: 3,528 ✭✭✭✭

I looked and can tell this auto is probably real. I would guess this is the picture to have.

It comes from a private person who has had it for a long time.
I am sure the personalization hurts this but how much?

to sell it should i get PSA to authenticate and capsulate this?
She wants to sell

Any help would be appreciated

I took a very quick look on the Internet and it somewhat matches other examples. But you would need to poke around some more to see if the sig and writing match.

To sell....not sure what they go for. Whether or not it is worth getting authenticated depends on what they sell for.

My only advice is. of you do send it somewhere, do NOT let them put one of those stupid hologram stickers n the front (no sticker is my preference, but definitely not on the front).

As for the inscription, one line of reasoning is that it reduces value somewhat, but in my opinion, the more writing the better and it also helps authenticate it.

I took a look on eBay. It still compares favorably with earlier sigs.

Don't get too excited by the huge prices being asked - look at the completed auctions that actually sold.

But yours is the iconic image, of course.

Not entirely sure on the solution. It's a cost/benefit calculation. Value if authenticated vs. cost of authentication.

It might (not sure) end up being best to list it on eBay and see where the bidders take it. The owner wont get rich on it either way.

Another possibility is to sell it to or through a dealer. JG Autographs is a good dealer and there is another I can't recall that takes consignments.
