Factory Sealed '89 Upper Deck Case

I've got a few friends who recently made a large "junk wax" purchase that included two factory sealed '89 Upper Deck cases. Since this is the type of thing that is right in this board's wheelhouse I thought I would pose a few questions on their behalf.

  1. Is it worth it to have the entire outer box wrapped by BBCE or is the factory seal good enough?

  2. What is a fair price for these?

  3. What's the best way to find a buyer?

Appreciate all the input. Thanks!

Arthur

Have BBCE wrap it as soon as possible. If you/they can deliver it in
person so that the the seal remains intact. The seal could break during
shipping and a great deal of value, especially for two cases will be lost. I'm
not sure of the backlog BBCE has currently, but it might be a while before
he gets to it. But by all means deliver it in person. If the seal is broken who's
to say the contents weren't searched. Just saying. Then at a later date you
can have BBCE seal the boxes with the sticker claiming FASC. As popular as
JR. is there is only upside potential for the future.

Best way to mail it BBCE is fed ex. Make sure you double box it. I just had a 1981 Topps Case delivered to me this way and had 0 issues. Cost about 90.00 to ship it. One larger box on the outsided filled with peanuts. Then put the case in a second snug box and in the second box they stripped Styrofoam (or bubble wrap) and laced all walls with it on the inner second box and had 0 movement. Arrived perfectly.
Also you need to know if it is a High or Low series case and those prices are almost 2x.
Value probably 7-10k now depending on series.
I would have the outside of the case sealed. Those cases back in the day were also tampered with a lot. Those packs are in sequence and someone can pull all the Jrs and seal the case back up. So needs to be authenticated period with that issue for top dollar.

So then, without a doubt, send it to BBCE? No way around that?

Thanks very much for the replies.

There is a way around it but you will get less money as people might think it is searched.
Very common case to search and seal back.
