2001 Upper Deck Pavel Datsyuk Question

This card has been on my radar for a little while and I've noticed that a large number of them have chipping at the top center. At first I thought this might be a print defect, but I've verified with a few sellers that it is indeed chipping. I find this quite strange. Why would the card be so often chipped in the same spot? Here are a few examples that are live/recently completed on eBay:
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Perhaps where the pack is crimped by a machine?
Interesting- i've never seen that on a UD card where there would be chipping in a specific spot on one card. They had two versions of the card that year. Would be interesting to see if the other version had the same issue.
Or in the cutting process there could have been a nick in the blade
I pulled one of these from a box back in 2001 that had the mark and was disappointed to get a damaged card, until I realized every copy I came across after that had the same mark. The copy below sold in June and appears to have a slight mark in the same spot, so I am not sure how PSA takes this into account,
