Matte Farthing Rarities: 1951 and 1953

Here are a couple of very rare farthings. The first came as part of a complete set from Spink nearly 20 years ago. The second from the same source about two years later:

That's a great design and those coins are nice as well. The farthing goes well with my Isle of Man bird collection.

Interesting that you mentioned them as "nice" - that is appreciated. Interesting the TPGs have grades all over the map on the so have left them unslabbed & they are as struck with just a bit of toning. These are truly original and unmeshed with. I caution readers into taking too much stock in the numerical grade assigned.

Agree - I would be proud to own either or both of them.

Thanks, love that little wren. QE II looks a bit different than on 2020 coins! LOL. Even though prices on many Brit coins have gone up, compared to USA coins they remain a steal. I wonder how much a 1951 or 1953 US cent with a mintage of 5 or so go for?

Canadian coins with a mintage of 5 go for even less. Nice coins.
