1987 Bellingham Ken Griffey Jr.

A quick eBay search shows that there are 5 live PSA 10 listings 31 completed sales for PSA 10s. Yes, 31. This card has to have been severely reprinted, no?

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

    Here is the pop report.

What was a normal print run for a minor league set from the late 80’s?

If it was say 10k I could see this being reasonable but if it was 2k not so much.

I wonder what the purported print run was.

Print runs of most minor league sets from 1986-1989 were around 5000-7500 for team issued sets. Given Griffey’s profile, it makes sense that nearly half of the existing copies have been submitted. While not an overly difficult card in PSA 10, the fact that it is his first issued card and a micro-fraction of the 89UD print run makes this card undervalued in my opinion. These have really dried up in availability on eBay over the last two months. Dead centered PSA 10s don’t come up too often anymore. There are no reports of reprints on this card at this stage, but I’m sure it is only a matter of time before someone tries given the rise in pricing on this card.

Some former minor leaguers have been known to do that . . . .

Centering and tilt issues seem to plague this set. I looked for a year to find a decent 9. Just got that back in March, it is now up over 50% from then (what isn't)....

Huh? There are 31 PSA 10s and 28 PSA 9s in eBay completed sales. This card has seemingly exploded in abundance recently.

There are a lot of them out there. I know I bought 25 team sets back in 1989 for about $15 each. They were practically giving them away then. I know centering is an issue on them, but the card stock itself is pretty rigid. And they are super glossy, from what I remember. I still have those sets somewhere in storage.
