Are foil packs tamper proof

I have very little experience in purchasing packs of cards over the past 30 years (other than the group breaks). So, please excuse my ignorance. Is there any way possible that someone could have opened and resealed a foil pack? Not looking for a how to, just if it is at all possible. I would guess not.

Secondly, is there any way to tell if a pack has a refractor/other limited card and more specifically who the card depicts?

For context, I am considering the purchase of an expensive, for me, box of cards and wanted to know how confident I should be that it wasnt "searched" in any way.

Thanks. TOM

What are you looking at specifically? One trick is opening until they get a big card and making frankenstein boxes. They take leftover packs from several boxes to make 1. There could be more than 1 big card but probably not. Know your source! Recent boxes will have clear plastic wrap with Topps stamped all over but watch out for crafty re-sealers.

People know how to find thicker cards easily. You'll see them weighing and bending packs at Target looking for a memorabilia/manufactured relic card that is so often not worth much more than the pack itself. Real productive use of time, losers. They will do this to hundreds of packs to find a couple of those.

These are well-known dirty tricks, that is why I don't mind being specific.

There are more dirty tricks, again know your source!

Hi Tom. You need to share more details.

Simple answer is buy from BBCE, and you can be assured you are getting the real deal.

Yes, foil packs are resealable. One thing people do is weigh packs with a jeweler's scale. This is why you never buy loose packs. If you're buying "Mega Box"-size or larger (hobby box, jumbo box) then you should be safe from weighing. The boxes themselves can have enough variance in weight that it negates whatever a thicker card would show up as.

For example, when 2018 Topps Chrome Update started to blow up, I read all about how the boxes could be weighed and not to buy them on eBay. I had about a dozen boxes I had picked up at Target and after I opened them all I weighed each empty box. From the heaviest to the lightest, the difference was 7 grams. For context, the difference between a regular card and a thicker card is less than 1 gram.

So just make sure the branded cellophane is correct and you should be fine. Older blasters would probably require more due diligence.
