1993 TOPPS GOLD Vending Box Rip ------- ZERO JETERRRRRR

HorseHorse Posts: 675 ✭✭✭✭

What does one do with something like this ? It's a 1993 1st series vending box of the gold foil cards. 396 cards in series 1 so good chance at a Jeter. Could probably sell the box for what...., 140 bucks ? No idea. Might as well rip it right ?

I was 10 in 1993...these bring back some memories! Great looking cards!!

Agreed. Posted just the hofers and a couple others. That was a time when I could actually watch and pay attention to baseball all the time. There are sooo many players am seeing here that bring back memories of some form or another.

    Horse,
How did you know the were the gold cards? I have a few 1993 topps vending boxes. Am I missing the GOLD designation?

If I were going to show any pics that's the one I would pick.

I think that was a $500 vending box

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Just looked at prices on this. Would be a really fun case break for the board.

Agreed on not knowing that these were available in a vending box.

I've got a 1992 gold set on a shelf that I've never opened and had forgotten about; this thread makes me want to go through it now.

I believe it was a one gold box per vending case in 1993. Hoping to be able to finish it off today. but card stuff reuqires beer, and not sure on that again today :(

    Needing that Jeter :)

From the outside of the box no way to tell, unless the Topps seal was only on the Gold boxes.

I did check ebay and one guy has/had a couple for sale, or at least did. I think he was looking for 200 bucks a box.

the one on ebay is series 2..no jeters

Steve had this box years ago listed for $225...I’d imagine it would go for $500+ now

I bet that is when I bought it. Don't remember.

    Anyway.... enjoy the rookies :)

How many cards in the set?

  • TiborTibor Posts: 3,561 ✭✭✭✭✭

I think there are 792 cards in the set, corresponding to the regular set.
The set looks good in an album.

There was one gold vending box in each case. You could tell which one it was as it was the only one that had the factory seal on it, I believe. I bought some 1993 football vending boxes a few years ago and neither I or the seller knew about this until I opened it later on and found out that one was the gold one. I think it also includes Black Gold inserts as well if I remember correctly

396 per Series, collation in vending is pretty erratic so you can end up with 3 of one card and none of others

Pretty sure there are two gold vending boxes in each case.

Wanna see a ‘495’ count Topps Gold vending box floating in a pool ?

Just to see how long before it breaks up and disbands and sets the cards afloat of course.

Or 65 bucks delivered to anyone.

    Poll !!!
