Dave Winfield "Winston Cigarette" ad on card.

While going through some boxes I came across the 1993 UD "Community Heroes" card #40 of Dave Winfield. In the background is the scoreboard with ads of Winston Cigs. Coca-Cola, and Bud beer. Surprised they did not black out the cigarette ad like the Fleer Randy Johnson Marlboro ad card.

    It's my understanding that Johnson himself made the request to Fleer. If Winfield never saw it, didn't notice it, or just didn't care there would have been no reason to alter it.

    I never knew RJ requested fleer to take out the add. Did you hear that from an old hobby magazine? I am very interested

    I believe I read it on junkwaxgems. I can't say for certain though. It was a strong enough hobby resource for me to tuck it away though. I know there's a supercollector out there and Jackson has gotten some good info from them. Jackson's pretty good at not tossing up every rumor that swings by so if he says something has legs I tend to believe him.
