Mintage is not as significant as surviving population. Nonetheless, it is a terrific looking example.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Totally agree, but not easy to ascertain this unless one really studies the market over a long period of time. One would have to be a serious numismatist (like you) to have a good take on surviving populations across different years, denominations, countries, etc. I have a hard time studying this for one period of one country!
What is wrong of owning coin like this? just wondering...
I like it !!!
What's not to like with that one? It is probably the nicest example of an already scarce issue.
I like it too! Have a couple of other dates myself....
Well, just Love coins, period.
Btw, there is a 1951 with even less mintage on stack now for a couple hundreds.
There's nothing wrong with the coin. It's beautiful, and no doubt one of the best that exists. I just know Dan and his collection well enough to know that it doesn't belong in his collection.
Look at it this way: A collection is defined just as much by the coins we choose NOT to include as by the coins we DO choose to include.
