1998 Pinnacle Mint Collection

Anyone remember these? While sorting/organizing my collection I came across these. They were oversized packs containing 3 cards and 2 coins. Was a 30 card set. There were 30 solid gold coins to be had. Odds of 47,000-1. Don't know if anyone scored them though. Only bought 2 packs Got the common coins of Gwynn,Chipper Jones, Pettite,Tino Martinez.

Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".

I have an 800 ct box somewhere of like 100+ packs that were opened from their outer shell but not opened on the inside cellophane. They're cool cards and boxes are tough to come by.

How many of those solid gold coins (which IIRC were 1/1's and would be specially delivered to you via armored truck!) were actually claimed? And how many different variations of the coins did they do?

Back in 1997 Topps had to scrap its. Topps Mint release because of it, then redo it for 1998 as Stars and Steel

Noticed a lot of activity for these on Ebay. Was surprised.

I bought a collection with a bunch of random items in it 5 years ago or so. There was an album with about 45 of the pinnacle mint baseball cards in there, and maybe 2 pages of hockey cards, along with some pages full of baseball, football, and hockey coins in the little squares. Almost all are the brass coins, a few are the nickel, and then this one Ivan Rodriguez gold plated. The album didn't factor at all into what I was willing to pay for the collection, and hadn't even looked at them since acquiring until I saw this thread. I'll have to look on eBay and see if any that I have are desirable.
