Trying to organize the mess on my desk and I could use some help. Any idea? To me it looks like the small date. Thanks in advance.

I’m not expert on those. However, based on the link that follows, it looks like a large date (with the numerals closer to the rim).

thanks for the link @mfeld.
i'm going with small date as the classic heads sister here, the gold, has what is known i think as the script 8, whereas the large date from the pcgs image is one of those, the 8 on your coin, imo, is not.

That’s the image I used from CoinFacts. The copy of penny whimsy I have shows I believe 4 die pairings but the plate photos are too small for me to tell the difference.
The lack of denticles on my coin make it harder.
But the 8 is what made me believe it was the small date as well. The 1s seem short and fat like the small date as well. But I’m sure there are others who could attribute the variety from other aspects of the coin.

Looks like the small date to me the upper loop of the eight is just a slight bit smaller.
Seems like we are a bit split. Any more people have an opinion? Thanks to those who’ve posted

Small date, S-291 variety. Sometimes easier to attribute large cents by the reverse- this one is the only of the 4 for the date with a "dash" defect under the "E" of ONE.
Thank you!
