1948 Bowman baseball box back at auction

doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

The 1948 Bowman baseball box with 19 packs that was found in an attic beer case in a Tennessee home back in 2017 is going back to auction. After it's discovery back in 2017, it was sold at auction for $521,180 which adds up to $27,430 per pack, but the man who won the box is aware of the prices that unopened are going for, and is going to take advantage of the opportunity. The guy decided to keep 1 pack for himself, so 18 packs will be in the box this time around instead of 19. It should also be noted that no surviving 1948 Bowman packs had previously been known to exist, and none have been discovered in the three years since. The box has been BBCE authenticated. I thought everyone might like to sneak a peak at another treasure of the hobby.

If I had that box, I'd get on one knee and propose to it.

What ever happened to the one pack that was opened by Mile High cards? There were originally 20 packs and Brian opened on that pulled a Rizzuto that he said could grade a 10. What did those cards ever grade? I never saw a fallow up on that opened pack.

Good for the owner. Also, a great idea to keep one pack.

Will be interesting to see the final price given the current unopened market.

I’d let it have sessual lations with me even before proposing to it.

It says each pack has 5 cards and 3 pieces of gum . I wonder how the gum taste ?

Why are the packs so big? The 48 and 49 Bowman cards were small.

As long the it goes for just under $550k, not counting fees, the seller is getting a pack for free. Nice work.
