On the topic of ticket stubs, is there any benefit in having a numerical grade on stubs vs. simply authenticating them. For example, would a PSA 5 vs. AUTH make any difference?
for unused full ticket, i find it that the tolerance for lower grade is much more acceptable. unlike cards they are taken out, sometimes in pocket, so even a low grade like 3 is highly desirable. I definitely prefer low grade PSA than just a AUTH grade.
I like a number grade over “authentic” even if it’s low. Just my opinion. Probably because I associate the “authentic” grade on cards with something must be wrong with it preventing it from receiving a number grade. I like getting tickets slabbed.... especially when it explains the significance on the slab. I used to have great wrestling ticket stubs I regret selling. I might have a 1984 olympic basketball ticket that jordan appeared in. I need to dig it up. I submitted one to psa but it was the wrong game and ended up with a graded ticket of Lithuania vs eastern germs or something like that. I have been looking for a 1919 Kentucky derby ticket stub but haven’t seen one. Also looking for 1905, 1921 and 1925 presidential inauguration stubs.
Stub is rough but it’s Kareem breaking all time NBA scoring record game and signed. Worth a submission? I have never looked into it. Thanks
I agree that a number grade is best. The only exception, in my opinion, is when it is a classic ticket like Lou Gehrig day, similar iconic tickets. Then, I would prefer authentic over a PSA 3. For PSA 5 or higher, I'd go with the grade. Check the pop report before submitting. Like someone else said, tickets tend to have lower grades than cards. In most cases, there are very few tickets available, and a PSA 10 can be difficult.
