I was looking back at the sports talk archives and they stretch back all the way to 2004. It is unbelievable to see all the subjects in the sports world that were being discussed back then. A lot of athletes that were being discussed have long sinced retired. It is like going back in time, and it is quite unbelievable. I also noticed that perkdog was among the first members of the sports talk forum back in 2004!

Double D giving me a shout out! 👍👍. I do like to look up old threads that were hilariously memorable! Check out the Babe Ruth one done by “Plifter” in the Card forum, it’s one of my favorites. Another guy to look up is “Tecknobailey” or “Teknobailey”. Axtel, Joe Stalin threads were reads too lol
You are one of the pioneers of the forum perk, and a first ballot hall of famer! I noticed Joe Stalin back in the 2004 section and he's quite a character. I could be mistaken, but isn't this a photo of Plifter with Lawnmowerman?
That looks like LSUTigers (Bill) on the right.

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Awesome thread, that is a real classic! It's funny that the OP never did reply! I remember seeing a thread in the sports forum a while back about George Brett being the best 3rd baseman. I think it was a 1970s thread and it got pretty ugly. Does anyone remember that thread?
I remember that thread. When I first found this forum a few years ago, it was one of the more active topics. I did chime in with the fact that Schmidt was the best ever and was barraged with comments to the contrary. Then someone clued me in that this debate had been going on for quite a while and suggested that I read it. It was a fun discussion to read.
Yeah, that thread had it all, and it stretched on for 14 pages, and there was an all out war over Schmidt vs Brett. It was a classic!
Spot on correct Tim
The glory days of CU. All those members that got banned kept the CU forums hopping, one by one they got vaporized. Such a shame
This was another classic 14-pager

That Ryan Howard thread was a battleground, I love these classic threads! It is interesting to see how many great posters have been banned, and how many have survived over the years. I noticed dallas, stevek, and perkdog on that ryan howard thread. You guys have been through some wars!
Double D check this classic out... https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/650553/breaking-news-my-babe-ruth-results-are-in-but-im-not-clear-on-what-it-means/p1
I'm getting ready to read through it, but first I have to get a snack. I love a good snack while reading threads like this. Its like having popcorn with a good movie!
@perkdog, thanks for the link on that babe ruth thread, that was awesome entertainment, especially when it turned into an MMA thread.
plifter stands for powerlifter!😂😂
It’s an all time top 3 thread for me 😂😂😂
Yeah, that is one of the best threads I've ever seen! I would love to know what happened with his goudey ruth card, if it was actually trimmed!
😂😂😂
19 pages of a dumpster fire (with an instance of a word only typed once in the history of CU): https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1021686/new-england-patriots-2019-discussion-thread/p1
