Wow unbelievable that anything from 1990 Topps base set would ever see $100
One I sold this morning closed at $116.50
The interesting thing was I had a several other cards including a Jordan10 closing this morning and the page views for the Frank Thomas crushed the MJ and everything else.
1994 SP Arod PSA 9 closed at $665 which is real strong
Hope this is an indicator that some people are getting into (or back into) the hobby remembering the 90's
Always looking for 1993-1999 Baseball Finest Refractors and1994 Football Finest Refractors.

1990 Topps is sort of an outlier. First, people have been ripping unopened for years now looking for blackless. I mean, I don't remember the last time BBCE had a variety of '90 Topps items to choose from and they've gone stretches of many months without having any '90 Topps to buy. It's been the under-the-radar rip of the last decade. So there isn't a supply of unopened readily available for cheap like similar products.
Second, the borders actually make the cards look like they have damage even when they don't. It's been a sneaky-tough 10 set for a while now and the Griffey in 10 has been over $100 for some time now.
Third, nothing makes sense anymore.

I may be in the minority but I love the 90 Topps set!

That's what I'm talking about. Turn some of that stuff collecting dust that we thought had very little value into something better. Way to go. Similar experience with views on a Bowman Sheffield and '87 Topps McGwire.
It has been fun watching the unreal prices being paid for modern junk. Collectors and investors are pumping good money in 1980s/1990s cards at this point. The 1982 Fleer Ripken PSA 10 is now over 1k. Never saw this coming !
I like 90 Topps and 90 O-Pee-Chee. O-Pee-Chee has solid potential imo.
I am glad I bought my opeechee Thomas three years ago.
another one ended at the same price. seems the last four have ended around the same amount. looks like someone or more then one person is driving up the psa arod rookies right now.
Yes. Got mine for $100 a few years ago. I think you would have to go back to the early- to mid-'70s to find an O-Pee-Chee issue with a smaller print run than 1990.

I bought a vending case from BBCE a year ago for like 125$, and now I’m seeing vending boxes going for 40$ each? Crazy!
It’s about time opc baseball is getting some well deserved attention!
Wonder when 1990 Topps will be considered vintage. How many years must pass for an issue to be considered as such?
It's had its moments. I think the Opeechaissance started around 2013 when the '87 Bonds card shot past $1,000. Then you saw tough ones like Sandberg and Gwynn rookies move up further. The Chipper rookie was always in-demand. The Randy Johnson actually made its move long before the Thomas, which I never would have guessed. For some reason, the Thomas just hung back, even though there was the low pop.
I imagine pre-1980s OPC made its move even earlier than all of this. Those guys are close to a decade ahead of us.

Thankfully, I picked up most of the OPC cards I needed for my Killebrew set when they were cheap.
I never understood how a card like the 1965 AL HR and RBI League Leader cards were cheaper in OPC when they were SO MUCH harder to get in high grade.
I still haven't gotten the RBI leader in an 8!
I remember calling an advertiser that listed a 1971 Killebrew OPC PSA 8 for $25.00. He was away at a show and I rather impatiently waited until Monday for him to call me back (worrying that my card was sold over the weekend), he called and I got it!
The prices some of these cards are going for indicate that they have become vintage.
After all that was 30 years ago.
Looks like it's time to load up on 90's vintage material, before the run up. That's one good thing about time passage, it makes things old and vintage.
I just picture @grote15 's brain exploding over this. Miss you, buddy.

I'm still trying to figure out when and why a 1983 Topps baseball wax box became a $900 box and a common 75 rack pack a 1K pack!
Otherwise all is well Arthur, and hope you are, too!
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
Oh, I think you know. ;-)
