Africa Krugerrand Advice Needed

I have the below pictures African Krugerrand 1/10 oz. - 1987
Looks like it was placed in a gold case for a necklace. It also
looks like someone tried to remove the case around the coin
but gave up. Does not look like they damaged the coin, at least
not much.
Do you think that this would this be worth taking to a jeweler
to have the case removed?

Advice would be appreciated,

The surfaces of the coin already exhibit the effects of being in jewelry. Probably worth more as is IMHO.

It will never be a collector coin, so you might be able to remove the mount yourself with a Dremel or other small cutting tool. Just don't cut deep enough to touch the rim. Stop shy of the rim and break the rest of the mount with your hands.

Not sure what a jeweler could do here.

Maybe the mount has some gold content too?

    No.
That is just a piece of bullion at present.

I remember getting my first foreign gold coin way back and posting it here only to be advised it was 'just bullion'.
It was and is but it started a foreign gold coin collection. Ahem....gold bullion collection. :)

It is going to be considered as just bullion. Because the coins essentially damaged a dealer will just count it as a melt item.

Don't waste time or money trying to make it better.

Its bullion. Keep or sell as such.

I'm pretty sure the coin already has crimp damage from being encased. Also wear scratches are visible on obv and rev. Memento? Or use it to buy something better. Peace Roy
