Perhaps this section should be named "Banknotes" and not "Currency" ?

Hate to nitpick but I spotted a couple of mistakes. I didn't read it all the way through but spotted these two in the first few paragraphs.

The first banknotes issued in the Western hemisphere were issued in Sweden in 1661, not the British colony of Massachusetts in 1690.

The 1815 Federal issue didn't replace obsolete notes. Obsoletes continued to circulated side by side with the Federal notes and obsoletes were far more plentiful. "...and the population would return to using Obsolete Bank Notes" gives the impression that the 1815 Federal notes replaced other obsoletes while they did not.

That's as far as I read. Otherwise it looks like a good, comprehensive overview.

Sweden is East of the Prime meridian, so it's technically in the Eastern hemisphere.

Sorry, my mistake. I stand corrected.
