What are some rule changes that we would like to see in the NFL? What does the NFL need to fix to make the game better?

I'll tell you what, the pass interference rules are already perfect in the NFL.
Something needs to be done about non calls on blatant plays. New Orleans probably lost a chance at a Super Bowl appearance from that blatant non PI call. The refs should have all been fired for that
Ever since the horrible call at first base that cost a pitcher a no hitter (perfect game too?), I have thought there should be a WTF judge. The Saints non call is another great example.
Maybe not for "minor" infractions that don't get called or those that are called that shouldn't have been, but certainly for huge game changing plays.
This would not be a coaches tool, just a way to get things right.
Okay here it goes - (Deleted by CU for using too much server space. Please keep posts to under 100,000 words)
😂😂😂
That Saints non call was an absolute disaster. A pathetic display of refereeing.
it wasnt a mistake though, the NFL wanted that to go down that way or they would have stepped in
The NFL certainly didn't seem to care about the Saints no call, and they had a less than desirable attitude towards the fans.
😂😂😂
My change is this one: if the offense gets a "half the distance" penalty, the yard marker moves the other portion of the penalty. Ex:
1st & 10 from the 5, 1st down marker at the 15. Get a holding call. Ball goes to the 2-1/2.
Current rules it's 1st & 12-1/2, 1st down marker still at the 15.
Under my change, the ball is still at the 2-1/2 but the 1st down marker goes to the 22-1/2 so it's now 1st & 20. Holding is a 10yd penalty, you shouldn't get less penalty yard punishment just because you're close to your own goal line.
Now that is a rule change that makes sense. That 4th and 15 thing is a bunch of CRAP!!
Thank you.
I don't really like the 4th & 15 thing either but I think it's preferable to onside kicks being basically impossible.
I don't like the onside kick either. I don't like anything that gives a chance for a team to win that has been outplayed the whole game.
It's like the intentional foul in Basketball to get you back in a game that you should lose. I say 2 foul shots and you keep the ball!
that was a noncall because they instructed the officials or whatever for the 17th time about whatever dumb idea they had .
Like how every other play at first was PI , and then how they denied every PI challenge even the ones that should clearly have been over turned
NOT making an obvious call is also the officials deciding the game.
OK, gotcha. I'm not sure I agree with this philosophy entirely but I totally get where you're coming from.
That phrase has always driven me nuts for the exact reason you mention. It's gotten better in recent years but not so long ago, it used to be that NHL officials would basically not call penalties in the playoffs. This significantly leveled the playing field by letting less-skilled teams just grab hold of more skilled teams and slow them down (illegally). "Just let 'em play" "Don't want the refs to decide the game". Hogwash. It's still deciding the game, just differently.
You sir are a very smart person. ;-)
Many years ago the Minnesota North Stars played the Flyers in the playoffs. As usual Philly got some penalties, but the referees refused to call a second penalty and whenever the Starts were on the power play they got mugged, tripped, held etc.
I got my opinion then on officiating. Call them or the offending team gets a huge advantage.
the replay system was originally put in place to overturn calls, especially the very obvious ones. Then how in the world can everyone look at the play that decided the saints game (all the game officials and all the replay crew) and determine that there was no foul. Then, they put in another rule specifically for that purpose and still refuse to call the infraction. A farce! When we talk about rules, how about if they just equally enforce them across the board. I watch a play where Wentz gets hit low while standing in the pocket and there's no call, and then see a QB who barely gets touched after releasing the ball and here comes the flag.
I also don't like the rule that if a defensive player jumps offside, doesn't touch an opposing player and gets back, that the offense can simply stand up and point to the guy and a penalty is called. I thought that call was supposed to be when a defensive player jumps and the offensive players move as a result of this.
I agree completely!
is there a replay of the dimeman penalty?
I'm curious as well, maybe a foul in the coin forum?

Go to page 2 of the US Coin forum and you'll see a sea of red from yesterday.
Ahhh Jon got Banned. I didn’t know, I haven’t ventured over to the coin forum in a while
Despite our differences of opinion on a LOT of players, I respect Jon.
We are both passionate people, him maybe a touch more than tolerable in the modern world.
Too bad.
Thanks for the link, I get the picture of what happened over there.
I saw that thread when it started. After getting a 'timeout' for posting a picture of the sesame street count muppet i figured that thread was going to be a big ol bam-party.
As much as I have very strong opinions on current events I know that here is not the place to discuss.
