Giants CB Deandre Baker, Seahawks CB Quinton Dunbar facing multiple armed robbery charges
.....According to TMZ, Baker and Dunbar were at a cookout at a home in the Miami area on Wednesday night, playing cards and video games, when an argument started. Baker then allegedly “whipped out a semi-automatic firearm.” Per the arrest warrant, Baker allegedly directed two other individuals, one of them Dunbar, to then start robbing the guests.
They allegedly took thousands of dollars in cash, several watches and other valuables from individuals at the party and threatened to shoot people before leaving the house.
An arrest warrant for both players has been issued.

<<< The Giants selected Baker, 22, in the first round of the draft last year. He recorded 61 total tackles and started in 15 games in his rookie year. >>>
I don't get this one at all?
I mean this isn't some retired NFL player who went broke or whatever, and then got caught selling drugs or doing something else.
A first round draft pick last season doing this?
Crazy and stupid beyond belief.
Bizarre story. Like seriously
Well, that's one way to toast an NFL career and mucho buckos.
You can't fix stupid.
Was it supposed to be a prank or something that quickly morphed into something else? Of course their lawyers are going to say something like that to the judge whether it's the truth or not.
But in any event, these idiots are looking at possibly years in prison. Without question they are going to serve a least some "significant" time behind bars.
Also, they can forget about ever playing in the NFL again.
Can't fix stupid, no matter how hard you try.
It's really hard to believe.
I mean this wasn't some sort of fight over a girl or something. They drew guns, threatened people, and robbed them. The criminal action must have taken at least ten or fifteen minutes, and they had plenty of time to reflect and back off from continue doing it.
Perhaps at least one of them being a first round pick, figured somehow that he's rich and he can do whatever he wants with impunity.
Frankly, everybody there who was robbed is going to file a civil suit against these two, and the plaintiffs will slam dunk get a lot of money from these dopes. Between that and their defense lawyers sucking them dry, they will windup dead broke without a doubt.
All for what?
Madness.
Also the Giants can't be too happy. Trying to rebuild their team, and now a productive first round pick from his rookie season is basically gone.
I'll give you Goff for Baker.
Even if he is banned it's a great deal.

NFL CBs Deandre Baker, Quinton Dunbar hadn't immediately turned themselves in after arrest warrants issued
The story of Deandre Baker and Quinton Dunbar was weird on Thursday, and getting even weirder on Friday.
The two NFL cornerbacks — Baker was a first-round pick of the New York Giants in 2019 and Dunbar was recently traded to the Seattle Seahawks — were issued arrest warrants for armed robbery charges. As of early Friday afternoon, neither had turned themselves into authorities.
Supposedly, Dunbar wasn't part of the robbery according to witnesses, but this story is truly bizarre to begin with so who knows.

Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker turns himself in for armed robbery, attorney says Baker is innocent
New York Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker has turned himself in on his warrant for armed robbery, according to ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe. Baker, along with Seattle Seahawks defensive back Quinton Dunbar, are facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing people at gunpoint Wednesday night.
Baker’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, says his client is innocent and has several witnesses who will exonerate Baker. Cohen asks that fans not rush to judgement in this instance.
How many of those "victims" do you think will file charges? It will probably all just go away.
Probably Ohio State.

Sure seems like it from the last article.
In my opinion, something quite bad definitely happened with these players. However after the incident when tempers settled down, either through their lawyers, or personal contact between the players and the accusers, it may have been agreed upon that what the players did wasn't worth them losing their careers and spending years in prison.
Likely favors, BIG favors, were offered to the accusers to drop the charges.
Now how the NFL handles this will be very interesting. The NFL might not be so accommodating.
We shall see.
In any event, I'd say look for some of these accusers to be sitting in the 50 yard line seats at the Giants home games this season with complimentary tickets. LOL
i'd rather be pistol-whipped
that is, unless i had this guy on a fantasy team
(a Bear getting abused btw)

Giants’ DeAndre Baker to be released on bail after turning himself in to police
Giants cornerback DeAndre Baker will be released from jail in Broward County, Fla. after he posts bail that was set at $200,000 Sunday morning for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a house party in the Miami area last week.
Broward County judge Michael Davis hit Baker with a $25,000 bond for each of the eight counts against him. Baker has a permit for a firearm, which he must surrender to authorities within 48 hours. He is not allowed to have any contact with any of the victims and he is not permitted to leave the state of Florida at this time. The judge said that ruling can be modified at a later date if work requires Baker to leave the state. So, Baker might be able to attend the Giants’ offseason program or training camp if the team facility opens up this summer.
The Florida state prosecutor asked for no bail for Baker.
Baker, 22, turned himself in Saturday morning after a warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday following an incident late last Wednesday night in the Miami area. Baker is facing four counts of armed robbery with a firearm and four counts of aggravated assault.
Baker, Seahawks cornerback Quinton Dunbar and two others are accused of ripping off $12,800, pricey Swiss watches — including an $18K Rolex, $25K Hublot, and a $17,500 Audemars Piguet — along with other valuables at a Miramar house party. Baker and Dunbar, 27, were allegedly armed with semi-automatic weapons, police said.
Dunbar was released with a $100,000 bond — $25,000 apiece for each of his four armed robbery counts — with no access to firearms and with the stipulation he reports to pretrial hearings on the phone.
