Just noticed that 1985 Topps McGwire PSA 9 cards are selling..

for upwards $350, huh? You can get the following for this, 1956 Ted Williams PSA 6, 1957 Frank Robinson PSA 6, 1958 Roger Maris PSA 6, 1956 Willie Mays PSA 6. Anyone willing to trade these vintage cards for the 1985 Topps Mcgwire?

Work hard and you will succeed!!

Or, instead of buying that McGwire in a 10 for about $1,100, you can bid on the PWCC "E" PSA 10 up for auction right now sitting at $2,383.

Some people don't care about ancient cards they have no connection with.

Getting ready for the doc in July. Doubt the effect will be as profound as The Last Dance had on Jordan cards but should surely have a definite impact on Sosa & Mcgwire cards. Sosa was the runner up and a weirdo so, Big Mac it is.

With all due respect, I have to disagree here. I agree with the point of buying vintage over 80’s juicer cards, but I won’t go anywhere near a PWCC listing ever again.

    And why is that?

They’re currently part of a federal investigation for knowingly selling trimmed and altered cards. Although I haven’t heard an update on that in a while. Still, they’ll never see a penny of my money.

Even the 86 Canseco Donruss has picked up some serious steam in the last month (guessing partly due to McGwire cards). Even still, one just sold through shady PWCC for over $600! That card will be a $1300 card by the time the documentary comes out - and I think I'm still undershooting in price.

Yeah, I was actually referring to the ridiculousness of the PWCC listing. Of course, the day after this PWCC listing ended, we have a handful of PSA 10 McGwires listed at above that price.

I remember buying up all the 85 Topps of him at local card shows in the early 90's for $5-8 each. This was pre record breaking year when he was going through his back troubles and collector interest had waned. No one thought he'd eventually break the record. Neither did I, but for the price I was gambling that maybe he could still hit 500 Hrs. Eventually sold all during his record breaking year. Once in awhile you get a lucky break.

Yeah, although the PSA 10 is a low pop card, it was going between $800 to $1100 normally up through two weeks ago. Possible factors to its wild ride:

    1. Upcoming 30 for 30 getting the Jordan effect
    2. PWCC "Eye Appeal +" version sold for $3,600 several days ago. Some of this is the PWCC factor and the extra "certification" by them.
    3. Maybe one of the investor groups made this one of their picks to see some upward movement and created a frenzy. Sports Card Investor has gotten popular. I don't subscribe to his paid groups, but there has been a definite correlation between his pick(s) and the prices spiking. on that card and/or player.
