They seem to have about 22 artists. Since they're supposed to be art, I am obligated to preface statements with "to me" or "in my opinion".
Half of them look like self indulgent pieces of crap that disrespect the source material. I don't know why those artists were chosen, nor why they would have accepted the commission (unless they are currently tired of surviving on ramen).
I have no doubt they could have found other artists who could have been more creative in color and composition. The 2nd grader (see Gibson) and faceless guy stand out as particularly bad. But the cartoon graphic guy, "the tracer", the "trailing puff of smoke" guy and the guy who blocked out the lower half of Clemente's face are pretty bad, too.
At least the cartoon graphic guy partially salvages himself on Mariano's card by drawing a Yankee uniform on him rather than street clothes.
Different strokes for different folks I guess. Some of these are horrendous. I've not done my homework, but the Keith Shore guy has been creating the oddest IMO.

1985 Topps Football (starting in psa 8) - #9 - started 05/21/06
I like project twinny twin-twin. And here's why. Haven't bought a single one, but I like the art aspect and how many new eyes and people it's bringing to the hobby. To us the originals have always been little pieces of art. We are old and going to scoff at most of them. Sac religious even. But art is in the eye of the beholder and if these renditions draw in a whole new younger crowd, folks from the art community, the artists following, hipsters, sneaker heads and any other collateral communities, then it's only good for our hobby as a whole.
And ironically enough, we went to the beach today and over heard a buddies kid talking about the Trout card. He doesn't collect at all, well fortnite cards, but was talking about how he wanted one for his birthday. First time I've heard a teenager talk about sports cards (without me inquiring first) ever, I think.
I am not sure the artist knows how to draw faces but other body parts? Well he has that down. I wont link his website here as it is certainly NSFW but check it out if you are not shy.

I have liked many of the Project 2020 cards - however some of the artists are not to my taste.
I don't get it. It's baffling. There were 6607 of these sold at I think 20 bucks each. Where is his face ?

There are some truly horrible Project 2020 cards but the worst of the worst are the faceless ones

They really screwed up this particular Don Mattingly. He's got a little Captain smurf thing going on.
I think these "artist" were all part of a 2nd grade art class. I hope the person who greenlighted this project was fired.

I pretty much hate anything that is a reprint or "archivey" type stuff.... With the huge exception of Heritage. Topps Heritage is awesome.

I love this concept. Sure some of them are stinkers but others are incredible. And they are on fire right now, super popular.
I would be all over a hockey release like this. Unfortunately Upper Deck has no vision so us hockey collectors are stuck in 1995 ( young guns, yay)
