I know this topic has bounced (ha ha) around a few threads. With all of the Jordan love right now, this era of the basketball hobby is still one of the best deals out there if you want to pull a Jordan from a pack. I haven't collected Basketball in a while, so I hope to hear some good intel, rumor, or my favorite, reckless speculation.
Anyways, I'll start it off. I've been looking for 1991-92 BKB boxes and came across the 1991 Skybox BKB Blister Packs. I vaguely remember these at the local Meijers in Michigan. I've seen quite a few Series 1 blister packs but I haven't seen as many Series 2. I don't recall Series 2 Skybox being short printed compared to Series 1, it was all over produced to me.

I've got nine Series 2 in my collection. Agree, they don't show up often.

I am guessing much more of the series 2 product was opened, which is why less boxes/blisters remain. Series 2 had the red hot RCs of Larry Johnson and Mutombo coupled with the even hotter inclusion of the 1992 Dream Team OLY USA cards. There was an insert featuring the entire Dream Team on one card with gold foil on the front too. That card was blazing hot and led to lots of series 2 ripping. Series 1 was a dud and just featured the prior year’s rookie crop of Derrick Coleman and Kenny Anderson.
In hindsight Skybox were actually really nice cards. the design for the original 90-91 set was excellent. I remember them being the "off brand" you bought though if there were no more packs of Upper Deck, Fleer or Classic at the card store. At the time though we all here in SC were convinced how more worthless could these cards be since they are printing them in NC?

I don't know what happened to the text below. Anyways I agree with the More Ripping theory for series 2. I do recall having more Olympics cards and rookies. Now it is all about Jordan and 1991-92 Skybox has 11 of them. Here is my breakdown. I give a slight edge to series 2 due to the Olympic and SkyMaster subset. It also has 6 Jordans vs 5 for series 1.
Series 1 Jordan
39 Base Set Jordan. To me this is the nicest Jordan in the set.

307 Jordan LL. A nice picture of MJ in a non-dunk shot. The third nicest Jordan in the set IMHO.

333 Michael v Magic Finals. A great action shot. It feels awkward to me.

334 Jordan Finals MVP. Great emotion in that card.

337 Bulls Starting Five. This is the biggest waste of a card concept. How could the best shot of all 5 is one where 3 of them are wearing t-shirts? This could have been a classic card. AIR BALL!

Series 2 Jordan
408 Chicago Bulls Game Frame Jordan. A nice action shot of MJ playing defense.

462 Jordan/Pippen Teamwork. You have to give Skybox credit for finding every way to include Jordan.

534 Jordan Olympic Card. I think the Skybox Olympic cards are the nicest of all the Olympic issues.

545 Jordan Olympic Team 3-Card. Again a rather awkward Jordan card.

572 Jordan Skybox Salutes. I wonder if Skybox just randomly assigned background colors or if there was an actual design strategy.

583 Jordan SkyMasters. This is the second best looking Jordan in the set, maybe #1 over the base card.

I have TONS of early 90s basketball.......Up until about a month ago, I thought it was all worthless. Since the lockdown, I've gone through and pulled out tons of Jordans; some of which are going for big bucks now.
Still waiting for Tim Hardaway RCs to take off. The killer crossover was unstoppable. Even got Jordan.

You probably used the # symbol to start a sentence, when you do it makes the characters large like that.

Thanks. I learn new stuff everyday on this board!
I loved the first 2 years of Skybox hoops! I chased the Dream Team cards hard and still have the whole “team set,” including the gold foil card referenced above. Sent my Lenny Wilkens coach card for a TTM auto a few years back.
Yaz Master Set
#1 Gino Cappelletti master set
#1 John Hannah master set
Also collecting Andre Tippett, Patriots Greats' RCs, Dwight Evans, 1964 Venezuelan Topps, 1974 Topps Red Sox
OK here comes the reckless speculation. I think my math is right. There are 5 Jordans in Series 1 and 6 in Series 2. With 330 per series that's puts the Jordan rate at 1.5% and 1.8% respectively, Assuming even distribution of cards, 36 packs x 15 cards = 540 cards per box. Based on the 1.5%-1.8% Jordan set rate, that means each box has 8-9 Jordans?
