1998 Topps Peyton Manning in a PRO Slab

Hello everyone,
I’m looking for advice on a 1998 Topps Peyton Manning graded 9.8 by PRO that I purchased in college, most likely in 1999. I was buying cards in all kinds of slabs back in the day, I didn’t know any better.

I started collecting again around 3 years ago and discovered there aren’t many PRO cards on eBay and I’ve read the threads about the card trimming. Is there any real chance this card isn’t trimmed? I’d like to have this in a PSA slab but I don’t know how realistic that is. Would it be worth sending in for a crossover? These are the toughest labs I’ve tried to break. I have a 1996 Topps Kobe Bryant in one that I tried cracking and I barely made a dent in it and gave up.

I’d appreciate anyone’s thoughts on this.

Thanks,
Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to the boards if I haven't done so already!

Scans would help! There are so many different cards out there scans are a must if you want good answers. Scans are much better than cel phone pictures.

Generally speaking, you should be able to crack them out yourself, but sending them in for a crossover should work too.

If you are intending to sell, get them out of the PRO holder even if you decide not to submit them to PSA.

I would just keep it in the PRO holder. NEVER send a Pro graded card to PSA for a crossover. It would be a waste of time and money. And I would measure the card first before cracking it out.

Here are the scans. The white specks are inside the slab. Can't tell if they are part of the surface or dust that got in. I measured 2.5" by 3.5".

    Thanks!

it appears to fill the holder, but... I had a few experiences with PRO back in the 90's. one was a schmidt rookie that was graded 9 and was way too good to be true. this was before everyone posted pictures on ebay. when i got it, it looked like a 73 mini. well, the seller never returned any messages and ebay was not as friendly to sellers. I was stuck with it. havent bought PRO since.
