That last card is a printing plate right? I've been looking at Allen & Ginter printing plate 1/1s. But, if it's really a printing plate, shouldn't the image be reversed?

Yes, it is a printing plate. Here's the back. I remember someone had an explanation on here about the images of some plates, reversed vs non reversed. I'll see if I can find it.

Well no wonder I recalled this before. It was in a thread that I had started. LOL
Mike (Stone193) had provided an inquiry to that and provided some insight info on that in this post.

    1998 Pinnacle Epix

Cards marked with a "C" were scheduled for insertion into packs of 1998 Pinnacle Certified, but were never officially released. However, in October 2017, a full set of Epix cards intended to be released in 1998 Pinnacle Certified emerged on the secondary market, with some players having multiple copies surface.

Wow guys these parallel sets are nuts!!! They really look good when posted all together like that. Its gotta be incredibly hard to complete an entire parallel set (especially if any contain /1, /5, /10, or even /50). Well done guys!

  • magicpapamagicpapa Posts: 634 ✭✭✭✭

Once I have less time on my hands, I will scan them all together

A continuation of the flagship insert set that began in 1992 Pinnacle, this 15-card set featured Pinnacle's choice for the best player at each position in the American and National League. The front side of the card featured an American League player and the back featured the National League player on a red and white background. Team Pinnacle cards also featured a foil finish on one side of the card and had two parallels: Gold and Mirror Gold. For clarity, there are a total of 5 variations of each card:
    1998 Pinnacle Plus
    Team Pinnacle

Mirror Gold (stated print run of 25 copies): . The Mirror Gold parallel has holographic foil on one side of the card only and are not serially numbered.

Stuff like this reminds me of when my "insanity" was at its total peak culminating in 2008's financial massacre.

Give me time = say 2 weeks please= to scan them ALL but I'll show off a run that would fulfill the technical requirements for being considered a " monster"
(a complete 2007 Moments & Milestones Roger Clemens base and black variations # to 29 run) . somewhere in the neighborhood of 13-1500 cards. I had actually accumulated 150 of the 1/1 when I realized the reclusive nature of collecting was affecting my marriage.

Still what consider my best "team effort" accomplishment collection wise. In order to be a completist you need a lot of help from your fellow collectors, a lot of money, but most of all one hell of a lot of luck. I had all three in completing this set.

Didn't Topps put out a set back in the 1990s; I think it was Topps Tek or something like that? Supposedly, each card had around 100 different background variations/designs.

Not sure if these would count as "parallels" or not, but picked up another printing plate in this set so now I have 15 "versions" of the 2006 Justifiable 07 Preview #JFPr-08. Included are four 1/1's glossy versions.

I don't have them scanned and it won't look as impressive, because most of the variations happen on the back (ad type and serial number) as the only front versions were 4 border colors and either B&W or color, but I do have all 56 versions of the 2005 Studio portraits card of Garvey.

I am only missing the red foil /25 Garvey in the Playoff Prestige set too. Scans are in the blog entry:

    http://1978theyearitallbegan.blogspot.com/2014/01/presti-gious-2005-style.html

I also completed the Timeless Teams run with the last bronze copy /50, but never bothered to update the scan.

I guess it is do-able, but you getting such a late start (assuming you do not already have a good run of them) is going to hurt. I think there are a fair number of folks that are still trying to complete their runs that started trying in 2005! I was lucky to get a large % not long after the issue hit the streets, but it still took a good 5+ years if I recall.

I still see lots posted and that may be one way to tackle it, as you might find other needs that could be traded towards Mattingly. Good Luck!

I collect Steve Garvey, Dodgers and signed cards. Collector since 1978.

    So far I have:

    • 1995-2001 Ultra Gold Medallion sets (YES with SP's), including about half of the 1995 GM insert sets too (boy was that a lucky catch; I'm still missing the ones in my sig). I am by far the most proud of this group as for whatever reason you can hardly find even regular Ultra sets from 1996 onward (they must've REALLY cut back on production starting in 1996) so imagine how much harder these GM sets were hard to come by)
    • 1993-1994 Topps Finest Jumbo All-Stars (finding the 80 card 1994 set was tough!)
    • 1995 Score Platinum (remember many years ago how excited I was to get this? )
    • 1994 Score Gold Rush (would love to get the 1995 set someday)
    • 1994 Pinnacle Museum Collection (I was super SUPER lucky to find and get this one a couple years back; they only made 6500 of each; sadly it didn't include the five send-in ones)
    • 1992-1993 Topps Gold (hopefully I'll be able to get the 1994 one soon)
    • 1992 Leaf Gold (the black/gold cards look so much more elegant/classy than the boring regular set)
    • 1994 SP Die-Cut and 1995 SP Platinum

I hope to someday get the Collector's Choice silver signature sets as well as that 1994 Upper Deck Electric Diamond set and I'm still working on getting all the mid 90s insert sets (baseball/football/basketball) especially the Fleer/Ultra ones.
