2012 Panini Silver Prizm Basketball: How High Will They Go?

I know most of you aren't into modern, shiny stuff. But I'd like to solicit some opinions. It's obvious that the demand for these cards has dramatically increased over the past few months. I think modern basketball collectors finally realized that the Silver Prizms from that year were actually very tough to pull compared to more recent issues of the set.

A complete base set recently sold for over $1,500 on Ebay. I would love to see a Silver Prizm set go through an auction. Any thoughts on what that final price would be?

Also, what do you think about selling off my Silver Prizms now vs. holding on a little longer?

All opinions are appreciated!!

I’d sell all. That is just me. I do a lot of modern but if it is not a rookie card I could care less. I know people really like these but I can’t see it continuing to build and maintain at its current rate. I especially do not get the people who pay crazy prices for post career cards like these. Why? If if is not a playing year card I do not want it with the exception of cards like Heritage or similar on card autos.

    Looking for FB HOF Rookies

Yeah, I've had that thought too......in the past week, the Pippen, Iverson and Rodman have all sold for over $200

I was out of collecting basketball for a long time through most of the 2000s, but I seem to remember sending you a private message when I heard about 2012 Prizm. That release brought me back. Since 2017 I have not been doing much with cards, but I think 2012-13 Prizm(along with the Silver, Gold and Green parallels) will be in demand for a long time to come!!!! :)

Let me preface my comment first by admitting that I am biased ... I have (fortunately) collected Lebron James for years and have over 1,000 of his cards.

With that said, I recommend that you sell every card in the set except the Lebron James cards. If he wins another NBA title and passes Kareem on the career points list (not to mention his inevitable Hall of Fame nomination), I can easily see his cards skyrocketing with each passing year.

I "overpaid" for four Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer cards five years ago ... and now they are all in my top ten most valuable cards. ;)
