Simply invest heavily in the rookie cards of the 10 players drafted after the Lions pick at #3.
You're welcome.

The Lions have had 18 first round picks from 2000-2015, the last rookie class who are off their rookie contract. Of those 18 picks only 4 got second contracts from the Lions, a 28.5% win rate. 10 of those 18 picks were in the Top 10.
I know this sounds corny from every sports fan, but I think any of us could have drunk guessed at the same win rate with that many high end picks.
I would argue that even if you TRIED to screw it up (without being completely obvious), odds are that you would have had better success. The jinx is real :-).
Who am I missing? Suh, Johnson, Stafford... My mother could have told you those three were going to be good?

In weird way the Lions draft failures probably made me a bigger football fan. Since 1980, the Lions have had 19 Top 10 picks over 40 drafts. I started reading draft magazines since the Lions were always looking at a top player. I came to appreciate other teams that draft well - Steelers, Patroits, 49ers, etc.
It certainly gives the local sports radio shows something to discuss annually!
You are missing two - Stafford, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Pettigrew, and Jeff Backus. That's it. Everyone else flamed out or signed elsewhere. The last 7 up to 2015 have left after the rookie deal. I think the 2016 pick Taylor Deckers might be #5.
