1964 D/D FS-501 Nickel R.P.M.?

Definitely not die deterioration often seen on the 1964-D nickels mint marks.......this one looks like the real deal FS-501...?

Any R.P.M. experts let me know...

    Doesn't look like a 501 to me.
It also shows some mechanical doubling on the C, my guess from the photos provided it is also MD on the mint mark.
Look for other areas of MD and that may answer your question.

Yo CoinDude, I wish I could say yes, but................sorry.

This appears to be machine doubling. While this looks impressive, there are no separations between the supposed underlying D and the top one. The features are flat or shelf-like. The FS-501 RPM is repunched to the southeast. It's not a very nice RPM, as it is still a little hard to identify if the coin is a later die state. This is probably why there are not that many examples certified mint state. Go check photos on James Wiles' website, www.VarietyVista.com. If you are not familiar with this site, I think you'll find it quite educational.

    FInd me an RPM-001!

    Happy hunting.
