At my post office, they will not let me insure a regular envelope, also they would not let me insure a brown one that wasn't padded, but inside was a padded one. So on my way home I went to a different Post office and mailed it insured no problem, with no changes. I told this lady the next day about this and she said the others are not doing their job right cause she could not insure an envelope that she felt was not safe. I have received some plain regular envelope that was insured, so you can at some post offices.

    Thanks, Mike

It really does depend on the person who waits on you at the post office. Some will let you send it in a regular envelope & insure it for you if it has been secured properly. We have like 5 different clerks at our office & 2 of them insure them but the others won't.Kind of sad when you think about it.
We found a place where we live that sells us the padded ones real cheap so we don't even hassle with it anymore.
