1962 Topps Series #3 5-cent wax pack GAI-8.5 (Mickey Mantle Series)...

Does this look like a legit pack? What is the chance PSA will grade it? The player on back appears to be card #210 El Roy Face. Here are images:

Seller purchased it from Mark Murphy in the early 1990s and was sent to GAI for grading May 2005...

It's hard to tell from looking in the holder. Maybe Tim (Grote) can give his opinion. I think 103xxx were the bad era serial numbers for GAI where the pack grader certified a bunch of bogus packs including early 70s grocery cellos that never existed. I would lean toward good. There were a few Mantle series boxes broken in the 1990s. I bought my pack from Perfect Card Company in the mid-90s and it successfully graded out with Steve/PSA. Mine was a multi-series pack (2nd & 3rd) that I purchased straight from a full box break. In retrospect, I wish I cleaned them out of the their entire inventory (who doesn't have those regrets?!)

    Gemint...

    Serial # is 102xxxxx

    Isn’t that less risky?

Nice pack you have there! I wish I had started my interest in unopened earlier...

Personally, i don't trust any company other than PSA with these high end unopened packs.

I'm not saying every single unopened pack in another slab is bogus, but for this kind of money, i'm not taking any chances, especially because i would buy a pack such as this only to bust it.

If that pack was in a PSA slab, i'd be salivating right now. :)
