1948 Leaf Football - Very rare card? DeWitt ‘Tex’ Coulter (White Jersey!) #42

DJJazzBassDJJazzBass Posts: 129 ✭✭✭

After 40 years of collecting, I may have finally found a very rare card:
Card #42 DeWitt ‘Tex’ Coulter with a white (no color) jersey! I can’t find any others anywhere. No internet photos, auctions, completed sales, no mention of any variations for #42 in forums, and even none in the outstanding PSA registry here.
Please see my scans. I placed a regular #42 next to it for comparison in the scans. Front and back.
I’ll most likely send it to PSA (once they reopen to full capacity), and have it recognized as a variation and graded. Hopefully it’s a 1/1, or at least just a 1 of 4 from the original 1948 printed sheet (and the other 3 no longer exist) :)

Please feel free to comment or add any possible information.
If you have one like it, post a pic.
Stay healthy everyone!

    Afternoon,

Or is it just a Card with a Red Ink defect, looking at it from PSA's perspective! (Although I do know PSA recognizes many varieties from this set). But I do know that they will not Grade Blank back cards (Just another form of printing/ink Error). Cards that the Backs weren't printed, but had a back. I've tried several times long ago and they said No!

I collect 48 leaf boxing, and I have seen similar variants in that set. Its the ink missing. They fetch a hefty premium.

Thank you both. I'm still adding to my '48 Leaf collection, but this card seems quite special.
I've seen only 2 reports so far of cards with a white jersey in the entire set, but no pictures. #5 Levi Jackson (supposed to be blue), #63 Roy Steiner (supposed to be red). Both in the PSA registry. A few are meant to be white/grey, as designed. There are also a few "white background" cards out there. Those certainly get a premium.
This one is clearly just missing the entire Red for the jersey. Perhaps that's how it snuck out of the factory. It really doesn't look like a mistake. It looks like a normal card.
It's also interesting to see the added artwork on the biceps of the black lines, then compare it to the red jersey version to see they were put there for the stripes.
