1824 CBH O.106 PCGS AU55 CAC - CONDITION CENSUS!

A very TOUGH R3 to find in XF and higher. In choice AU, it’s likely R4+ or even R5. In AU55, the 1824 O.106 is at the lower end of the condition census according to the latest AMBPR.

I won this coin this past January in Sheridan Downey’s MB#50 auction for $1430.
It has amazing and nearly full luster, excellent surfaces, with a soft obv strike, typical of the die marriage, and the reverse is rotated 20 degrees counterclockwise.

There hasn’t been many comparable auction records, which in my opinion is a testament to its scarcity, but in 10/16 a PCGS 55 example without CAC sold for $1116 through Heritage (Lot # 7428) and in 9/17 a NGC 50 example without CAC sold for $1140 through Heritage (Lot # 7522). To my knowledge, this is the only CAC approved example of this die marriage in AU.
