Probably just me, but this makes me laugh

Since eBay has given out 450 free listings so far this month, I'm posting all kinds of stuff. I have an SGC graded card listed for $3. I have not 1, not 2, but 3 watchers on the card. Who watches a $3 card? Maybe a nicer one will come available for $2.70? Gotta check with the wife first? Anyway, as you were.

That is a good one to buy, you can then be honest and tell the wife it was only $3. Sprinkle a few of those in, make sure you mention it each time they arrive and then the other cards you just don’t talk about.

Also turn off any ebay notifications, I think that one got me yesterday.. she asked if I got my Griffey card in the mail without me saying anything beforehand... there is a crack in my plan somewhere. :)

I knew a guy that was so cheap, that he would go to McDonald's and get his burger and fries, and then walk across the street to Wal Mart and get a 25 cent can of Sam's choice cola from their drink machine just to save 75 cents. This was back in the 90s when sam's choice cola was only 25 cents, I don't know how much they cost now. True story.

The local hardware store by my house growing up had Mello Yello cans for 25 cents.. I made a few trips there for sure..

I sell a ton of stuff on Sportlots. For small orders I charge $1 shipping PWE. I cannot tell you how many .18 orders I get that sit a week in pending payment before the guy finally pays via PayPal. $1.18 dlvd. Low end is huge in this hobby. Just time consuming and a pain but people always want a deal I guess.

Probably the guy put the .75 cents toward a pack of baseball cards.

I knew a few people when they would go out to eat in a restaurant, they would ask for a coke or pepsi with no ice. They insisted they were getting more soda for their money.

When my dad drove truck OTR , he would bring a sack of sardines to save money to last the week.

I must admit, I do silly things to save money for cards. Instead of buying brand name Lucky Charms for $3.00 a box, I buy the store brand Lucky Charms, they're called Magic Treasures for $1.35 a box and instead of a Leprechaun on the box, they have a Wizard on the box.

And no, I'm not one of the 3 watchers of detroitfan's cards. I buy Magic Treasures to save money for Joe!!

Maybe he bought a really nice card after 20 years of saving and investing that 75 cents a day in a simple S&P 500 fund. I know a few super savers who are worth a couple million each now when only making $50k/yr. at best in their careers. Saved dimes here, a quarter there being thrifty over a lifetime is how they did it. They are all former educators.

They were getting more soda for their money, just not cold soda.

I don't do the "no ice" thing, but in restaurants that offer free refills on soda I will never order 2 sodas for me and my wife. I also don't feel guilty about it since they are charging $3.00 for a soda that costs them a few pennies per glass.

I get no ice, but not for the volume. I watched something about how most restaurant ice machines are filthy.

Another store brand product I buy to save a money for cards, is the cheap version of "I can't believe it's not butter". It's called "Wow, I totally thought it was butter". Here, have a look...
