    It is not mint damage, it was damaged after it left the mint. It's only worth face value

    There is no way that damage could occur during the minting process.

  • If you look at the face of the quarter you'll see lines. Those lines match the lines of the ridge lines. Looks like another quarter was pushed against and slid over the top.

    It could have fallen into the machinery, but that doesn't count.

    Impossible to say what caused the damage, but it definitely wasn't during the minting process.
