Poppage! From SGC hehe. Needed a fix.
So with SGC being the only one that was open, I was having withdrawals. With two orders sitting at PSA, I needed something to fill in the boredom. I must say that I am in love with SGC again after taking a 20 year break from them. 20 business days and price is the same as PSA's bulk service. I like the new style flips. It grew on me. I never liked the green flip with the 100 pt scale.
Also, the new thicker slabs for thick cards are amazing. What I especially like are the dual grades and the new gold labels for pristine. Finally, the newest thing is, SGC now scans all your cards under "seller ready" and it's free. Very cool feature with front and back scans. I also noticed that the certification numbers are not in sequence....wonder why that is, but not a big deal.
I finally learned my lesson with sending foil condition sensitive cards to PSA. They always come back with white on the corners and a grade of 8. I know for a fact that I don't send in stuff with white corners. So I decided to send my Iginlas, and Marleau to SGC and I'm glad I did. Granted, I'm still using PSA and have been since 1998. I just now think that SGC is back in my life again.
I love these holders!!!! Let's just say I'm extremely happy.

I am usually happy with the service I get from SGC. Those are some nice looking cards and slabs.

Nope. These are staying put.
Congrats. Those look great.

Are these the holders with the pocket for relic cards?
Nice Larkin!
Those look great. Some cards really pop in SGC holders. I use them for my personal stuff. Always great service.
Congrats and those look great.
Yes they are.
In-hand, can you see the difference between your 10-PRI Iginla vs. the better one(s) of your 10-GM ones? I'm still trying to get a better understanding for 10 Pristine vs. 10 Gem Mint on SGC's updated scale. Also, I haven't seen much on sales values for 10-PRI and 10-GM in the new holders; any idea what % premium the -PRI gets on average? Is it similar to the premium difference exhibited by BGS black label premium vs. BGS 10 w/ 9.5 subgrade?
Congrats on a great sub and fast turn around time. Always good to see hockey items posted, especially of a player who will be voted into the HHOF this summer.
To be honest, I cannot tell the difference between the 4 iginlas. I knew they were super nice. I think it comes down to the surface criteria. I did spot a tiny micro surface dimple on one of the Iginla gm. Their pristine scale says surface must be free of any surface breaks and other crud (my own words). These are the first GMs for Iginlas and Marleau. Kinda cool that no one has ever gotten them until now
Great job on those grades great eye. I always like SGC holders and glad that they went to the 1-10 scale.
It's nice that they have the card serial number in the header. My only dislike is the new header design the
large grade number takes up to much space which in turn clutters up all the card information on the left
side.

I didn't like the large number at first either, but eventually it grew on me.
Nice results. I concur that PSA does something in the process to skim the edges. I've sent numerous 85 Football and 86 Baseball that come back 8 and 9s and have noticeable edge wear that you wouldn't intentionally send in. I may try SGC for comparison on those black borders.
Thanks,

I haven't seen many pristine at all. I've been using SGC for years. I have yet to get a pristine. So I really think it's not easy to get.
True enough. I'm more wondering if there is much noticeable sales price difference in their updated 10-GM vs 10-PRI. I think it is relatively easy for a lot of people, owners and buyers, to overlook the difference in notation on the label. Previous iterations of SGC grading scale had 98 as their Gem Mint and 100 as Pristine, which made it more obvious. With the BGS black label vs. gold, it stands out quite a bit more, visually, since the color difference fills the entire space. SGC using a gold border vs. the standard one but still leaving the bulk of the label as white results in a more hidden subtlety.
I can't recall any that I've seen sold. If I were selling I'd certainly ask a premium. The SGC 10s I've sold are generally 20-25% less than PSA 10s. If I had an SGC pristine 10 id likely price it 50% over a PSA 10 with a best offer and see what happened. Or if it were a lesser valued card maybe auction it and see. I just sent a batch into SGC, hoping for some 10s. Maybe a pristine.
