  • Expect a lot of standing around getting organized early....We had a group go to Kansas City to attend one about 8 years back but we became impatient and stepped to the side and got the cooler out and watched tryouts while drinking beer....They ran a hell of a lot so we didn't feel to bad about doing nothing but drinking while there...
  • Here ya go image.

  • Hey man, I'm 19 and i've been to several. First you'll stretch and run the 60 then outfielders will throw then infielders will throw. Then you'll hit bp then pitchers will throw. Usually takes about 3-4 hours. For 60 they look for guys under 6.9. And for pitchers (righties 90+mph and lefties 88+mph). Hope I could help.

I went to a phillies camp once and that b@stard Mage McDonnell wouldnt even look at me...he gave about 30 seconds to warm up with the catcher (I never actually threw a pitch...just warmed up playing catch) and then he called me down from the mound)
So if you want a tip...LOOK GOOD...i know it sounds dumb, but if you are scrawny (ME) it doesnt matter how good you are, because they most likely wont give the chance to show it
  • I was at two,Blue Jays & the Mets. Winsarc pretty much nailed it. I filled out some info forms asking where your born,DOB,Height, weight, playing experience. If they think something doesn't look right they'll doublecheck it, then you usually do calistentics(stretches0,Some running to loosen up, they have you throw & then usually take BP. The camp is usually run by minor league instructors. After an initial looksee they sometimes will dismiss some guys & continue to work with others. At Blue Jays camp I got to hit off former Yankee pitcher Bob Shirley who was the AAA pitching coach for the Jays at the time, in the Mets camp I got to hit off John Franco(he was a lot tougher to hit than I thought-I didn't do to badly). I was tod at the Jays camp that I would have had a shot at a minor league contract if I was a few years younger(I was 23-24 when I attended the camp), I then received a cal from them about a week and a half later with an opportunity but some personal issues kept me from pursuing that path. It was fun in any case.

Tips? Hmmm, Just be honest, hustle, play hard, don't showboat or be a hotdog(Keep the socks low, don't be too vocal, listen if the instructor is explaining something to you)

    Good luck!

Sounds like everyone has given you most of the info. First item they look for is speed...after sprinting (40,50 or 60) then comes work at your position. They see if you have a cannon or not. After a little infield/outfield they keep enough for a scrimmage game...if you are one of the top 20 there. Hope that helps.
