Recent inventory increase of graded Mattingly cards

I’m working on a basic Topps set of Mattingly. Within the last week or so, there has been a noticeable increase in inventory of graded Mattingly cards on eBay which left me to wonder why. Possibly folks liquidating collections for cash? Maybe folks think prices for Mattingly have peaked? Also interesting to me that 4SC seems to be offering a lot of the cards. Any idea what is going on?

I’d heard a rumor that 1 or 2 of the heavy hitter Mattingly collectors are selling off. Though that wouldn’t explain the 4SC angle.

    Yaz Master Set
    #1 Gino Cappelletti master set
    #1 John Hannah master set

Also collecting Andre Tippett, Patriots Greats' RCs, Dwight Evans, 1964 Venezuelan Topps, 1974 Topps Red Sox

Mattingly's extremely overpriced right now. Like stock, Mattingly has reached his peak and the investors are moving on to Scottie Pippen, LAwrence Taylor and Michael Jordan.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

Easy enough to wholesale your whole collection to 4SC.

I think the recent veterans committee snub of Mattingly for he HOF lends people think he is not ever going to make Cooperstown,
.That is a major factor in card values. For a non hofer his cards are overpriced.
I am a Yankee collector and love Donny BB but I am not going to pay $1500 for a psa 10 1984 Donruss.

  • For the better part of 10 years I’ve been reading that Mattingly prices have peaked and that the bubble is about to burst. Hasn’t happened yet.
